Hi! My name is Brittany Blazey—the founder of Truly Blazey media company. I wear many hats as the owner, marketer, graphic designer, content creator, you get the point… of a budding entrepreneurial enterprise. I’m honored that you’re taking the time to learn a bit more about me and my blog!
Truly Blazey is filled with creative ideas. My goal is to curate and create content that is relatable, helpful, honest, inspiring, and fun! I love doing my research to find all of the hidden gems on the internet (and in Vermont) so you don’t have to do any of the searching.
I grew up in Stamford, Connecticut—a booming metropolis about 45 minutes outside of the big apple. 🍎 I never really like felt like Connecticut and I were a particularly good match, so I moved 5 hours north to attend school at Champlain College in humble, little Burlington, Vermont.
I spent the next 4 years studying: Psychology, Marketing, Human Resource Management, and Organization Development. By December of 2018. I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Applied Psychology and minor in Marketing.
While at Champlain College, I also gained a working knowledge of everything HR/OD and even interned my junior year with the HR team at Lake Champlain Chocolates! 🍫
Throughout the time spent away at college in Vermont, I fell absolutely in love with the state. As of 2018, I’m very proud to call this state my home as an official resident!
My blog is a passion project as well as a cathartic creative outlet. It’s not yet a steady or sustainable income source. My day-to- day career is in marketing. I currently work as the Listing & Marketing Manager at Sarah Harrington Real Estate at the real estate brokerage Coldwell Banker Hickok & Boardman. ❤️
I really really freaking love interior design. I’ve driven many a roommate nuts with all of my re-arranging and re-organizing. I love fresh new ideas, looks, and inspiration! Check out my home interior inspiration board on Pinterest to see all of the home style ideas that I’m loving.
I have always loved to read and to write. I’ve found that as an adult creative writing has become something that brings me so much joy and positively affects my mental health.
I believe that mental health is something that should be prioritized over keeping up appearances. Yes, I’m looking at you social media: Instagram, Facebook, Twitter… I’m not saying that social media is all bad though. It is a powerful tool to make a positive difference in the world, but it’s important to realize it’s not everything either.
Whether it’s reading, listening to music, singing in the shower, writing for a blog, doing yoga, working out, or meditation— just do whatever it is that brings you back to your center of peace, calm, and joy. That’s how I live my life and it’s how I want you to feel while reading this blog!
Jennifer Yee
Content Creator
My name is Jennifer Yee and I am a content creator for Truly Blazey. I assist in copywriting, marketing, and graphic design for the blog. I grew up in Sharon, Massachusetts where I grew my passion for makeup and skincare. Spending my days with a camera and any makeup that I could get my hands on to recreate show-stopping looks and explore my creativity with color. This led to doing makeup for proms and later doing makeup for the music video “Playtime” for the band DEATH and a short film called ”We Used to Catch Fish.”
I spent four years after high school at Champlain College in Burlington, Vermont where I met Brittany Blazey, one of the first friends I made. I acquired a Business Marketing degree with a minor in Psychology during my time at Champlain. Brittany and I shared our love for skincare, beauty, and self-growth. Furthering our friendship by sharing products we love, discussing the future of business and marketing, and supporting each of our passions. I fell in love with Burlington and its serene qualities and alluring peaks (many of which I climbed with Brittany).
I followed college with a gap year and then enrolled in a master’s program at The Open University of Hong Kong in 2019 and moved across the world. I graduated at the end of 2020 with a Master of Global Business and Marketing degree. I was living in the midst of political turmoil during the Hong Kong protests, the beginnings of the COVID-19 pandemic, and some of the worst skin issues I have ever experienced. Skincare was again a necessity for both my mental and physical health. I moved back to Sharon in February of 2020 and attended classes online to finish my degree and graduate the following December.
My time at home during the pandemic has allowed me to volunteer with the food pantry in Boston. I’ve been with the organization for over eight years and enjoy my role in registration and distribution. Our clients are usually elderly Chinese and being able to bridge the gap of language has been the most fulfilling experience during my time with them. During this pandemic, it is even more important to be apart of putting food on the table for these people. Seeing their graciousness and diligence coming back every month, motivates me to continue serving them and giving back to a community that is so integral to my upbringing. In a way, Chinatown in Boston has shaped the way I see my culture and how much I want to stay connected.
My passion for skincare grew out of necessity. I was diagnosed with Eczema as a baby and had to learn ways to manage my immensely dry and irritated skin. As I learned more from how to create a concise skincare regimen, my confidence grew and I was less worried about the state of my skin.
I have memories of starting my semester in graduate school sitting in the front of the lecture hall in constant communication with the professor to receding to the back later in the semester because of how much my skin issues irked me. I understand first-hand how much looking your best can translate into the tenacity of also striving to be your best.
This brings me to reacquainting with Truly Blazey and its message to empower women to work towards their passions with the same tenacity. I hope my story and how much skincare has impacted my life can inspire you to take those extra moments of self-care to set yourself up for success in all of the challenges life can throw.
