This is the second time that I’ve been to Agave Taco and Tequila Casa. I received an offer for free nachos from the General Manager—so my boyfriend and I figured we’d try it again! It’s the sister restaurant of Grazers—a good upscale farm-to-table American food eatery also in Williston, Vermont.
The restaurant’s interior style is industrial with pops of color. The walls are decorated with brightly colored Aztec print graffiti on the metal paneling covering the walls. As you walk in on your right—you’ll see a shuffleboard table in the corner too. There’s lots of natural light which is great for those of us who love to take food photos!
We got seated in one of the booths and ordered the “Nachos Modelo” with carnitas priced at $11.50. These nachos come with a choice of either carnitas or pulled chicken plus queso, avocado, black beans, pico de gallo, fresnos, jalapenos, pickled red onion, and crema.
My boyfriend settled on the pick 3 tacos and got 2 sides deal for $15.75. Your choice of sides includes: Spanish rice, black beans, refried beans, dressed greens, or green chili cornbread. He picked the pork belly and barbacoa tacos with cornbread and rice.
I ended up ordering two Battered Fish Tacos for $4.50 each. They come with slaw, cilantro, mango salsa, and jalepeño ranch. They deserve a good shout out. I liked them so much the first time that I went back to order more!
The nachos came out and I was disappointed. The meat lacked flavor, the fresnos were in big chunks and the texture was all around super weird. The presentation, however, was very pretty!
We got our meals. The fish tacos were so good—just as good as the last time. The fish wasn’t at all dry. It was perfectly cooked and very flaky. The tacos had a really nice balance of buttery, sweet, and salty flavor. I just wish that it had more of that delicious sauce!
I tried Ian’s cornbread and that was excellent—the maple butter that it comes with is delicious. I honestly would go there again just for a basket of that cornbread and some butter.
He loved the drink called “Basketcase” ($9.00) with Espolon Reposado, Cointreau, pineapple juice, habanero honey simple syrup, and cinnamon sugar rim!
Ian’s rice was okay and I didn’t try any of his tacos. I did, however, try a piece of the pork belly and thought it was pretty dry. The presentation was also kind of sloppy. Ian, however, said that he enjoyed the tacos.
This is a good place for a bite to eat in Williston, Vermont. It’s not very expensive and they have all sorts of specials like Sunday brunch from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM as well Taco Tuesday and Margarita Wednesday specials. Check out their Instagram or Facebook pages for more restaurant updates.
