This Buttery Baked Lemon Garlic Basil Halibut is a fresh and flavorful seafood dish perfect for weeknight dinners, special occasions, or even meal prep. Known for its mild, slightly sweet taste, halibut pairs beautifully with the rich, tangy flavors of lemon, garlic, and basil in this recipe. Not only does it deliver on flavor, but halibut is also a great source of lean protein, with one serving (about 100 grams) typically providing around 20 grams of protein. This makes it an ideal choice for a satisfying, nutritious meal that’s both light and packed with essential nutrients!
Ingredients
- 2 lbs. fresh Halibut
- 2 lemons (cut in rounds)
- 12 basil leaves (chopped)
- 1 large clove garlic (minced)
- ¼ cup white wine (Chardonnay)
- 4 scallions (finely chopped)
- ½ stick Kerry Gold Butter
- 1 tsp. garlic powder
- ½ tsp. onion powder
- ½ tsp. smoked paprika
- ½ tsp. dried oregano
- ½ tsp. salt
- ½ tsp, black pepper
Directions
1. Preheat your oven to 350.°
2. Add scallions, garlic, basil, and white wine to the bottom of a lasagna pan. Top it with pieces of fish cut into portions.
4. Season with salt, pepper, smoked paprika, and oregano.
5. Top with butter slices and lemon rounds (1 or 2 for each piece of fish).
4. Bake for 30 minutes.
I suggest serving this dish with rice and steamed broccoli topped with Parmesan cheese!
P.S. I don’t recommend Google-ing WTF a Halibut looks like. I made that mistake. They are big ugly and truly one of the many super scaries of the sea. It gives us all the more reason to eat them though, right? But, not to fear, they are very delicious and make one hell of a great dinner! Enjoy! ❤️
