Have you ever tried to find an all-natural dish soap? I’ll tell you it’s definitely not easy. I reviewed countless product formulations and the Green Tea & Lime Dish Soap by Puracy was one of the winning formulations, but it’s still not 100% all-natural (99.96% to be exact). It does contain Benzisothiazolinone which is an anti-microbial preservative ingredient. There is scientific evidence that suggests that this ingredient is classified as toxic and harmful to humans as well as being a suspected environmental toxin. You can read Puracy’s justification for using this ingredient in this product and others, here.
I purchased this dish soap for a few reasons. It was the closest “all-natural” dish soap product that I could find on the market without breaking the bank. There’s also a dish soap from Thieves which we’ll call “luxury dish soap,” that I certainly cannot afford at the moment. It’s probably the best truly 100% all-natural dish soap product currently on the market!
All-natural dish soap is a must for me because I have really severe eczema on my hands. I found that Puracy’s product is gentle on my sensitive skin and did not exacerbate my condition which is phenomenal. The green tea and lime fragrance smells incredibly refreshing and is very enjoyable while doing your dishes too!
It is important to me to not use toxic dish products especially on items like non-stick pans, cutting boards, and rubber spatulas which are more porous or prone to absorbing the dish soaps than other kitchen items. I don’t know about you, but I don’t want toxic crap leaching into my food…
My non-stick pans are the only things that do not go in the dishwasher and this product does a great job at getting them clean without being too abrasive on the non-stick coating of the pan. I don’t use too much product on each item because I am weary of the Benzisothiazolinone contained in the product.
All-in-all, I like this product and it’ll do for now. My question to Puracy is, just because Benzisothiazolinone is a “better” preservative ingredient than formaldehyde and methylisothiazolinone, and medium-chain triglycerides, can’t they figure out a natural alternative to replace it? I also want to know why they consider medium-chain triglycerides harmful in dish soap.
Puracy almost has one of the best “natural” dish soaps on the market at a great price, they just need to remove Benzisothiazolinone. I really don’t like that in their marketing and product names that they use words like “Natural” and “Clean” when in fact their products are only 99.96% natural–can’t you go the extra 1% and literally have one of the best dish soap products on the market guys? I also don’t like how they claim to leave a gentle footprint on the planet while Benzisothiazolinone, is a suspected environmental toxin, is included in many of their products. I know that’s a bit harsh, but I’ve always spoken my mind. I would like an answer to these questions as a conscious consumer that values both health and efficacy.
I will say, however, that I respect their contributions to local (Austin, Texas) charities including The National Black Child Development Institute, Family Reach, Black Girls Code, Central Food Bank Texas, 100 Black Men Of America Inc., and Southern Poverty Law Center. I will give them credit too for creating a 99.96% natural dish soap product. It’s so much better than most other dish soaps on the market!
